Helmut Oberlander was a member of Einsatzkommando 10a, a killing unit responsible for the murder of tens of thousands of people, mainly Jews, in Russia and Ukraine. Oberlander acted as an interpreter for the unit, a sub group of the notorious Einsatzgruppen mobile killing squad which marauded its way across Europe and is now the subject of a Netflix documentary series. The Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (Claims Conference) has launched what it calls the first ever Holocaust Survivor-driven digital campaign to appeal to Zuckerberg to follow Facebook’s own hate speech guidelines and ban all Holocaust denial posts. As part of the #NoDenyingIt campaign, Claims Conference will be uploading daily videos from Holocaust survivors around the world making personal appeals to Zuckerberg. Among the Holocaust survivors who have already posted an appeal to Zuckerberg are Eva Schloss, stepsister of famed diarist Anne Frank....

Walker, a Georgia Republican and former NFL star who is facing Democratic incumbent Raphael Warnock, has been behind in the polls a month before the midterm elections in November amid a report in The Daily Beast alleging he paid for his former girlfriend’s abortion in 2009. A critic of abortion, Walker has denied the allegations and said he plans to sue the publication. Walker has received sharp criticism from his son, Christian Walker, on Twitter....

The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the settlement, the largest ever under the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976, on Thursday. In addition to the monetary penalty, the company will also be required to conduct “a comprehensive, corporate-wide program” to verify that contractors and firms it hires in the future are trained and certified to conduct work under lead paint safety guidelines. “Today’s settlement will significantly reduce children’s exposure to lead paint hazards,” Susan Bodine, assistant administrator for the EPA’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance, said in a statement....
