No such rescue effort is in the cards for Mrs. Clinton’s health-care sidekick, Ira Magaziner. He’s blamed for creating the mind-numbingly complicated plan the Clintons first sent to the Hill. If any proposal is to succeed, says a White House official, Magaziner must be kept out of it. Magaziner says the Clintons have assured him he will stay on as a senior adviser on health care and “other issues.” But sources say at least two cabinet secretaries have made it clear they don’t want his advice. “He’s had his chance,” says a White House aide.
