The 40-year-old died by suicide in an Encino hotel apartment, with his wife Allison Holker Boss confirming his death in a statement.

The couple, married for nine years, were parents to Weslie, 14, Maddox, 6, and Zaia, 3.

Did tWitch Adopt Allison’s Daughter?

Boss and Holker married in 2013 after first getting together in 2010 when they met during the All Stars season of So You Think You Can Dance.

At the time, Holker was already mom to five-year-old Weslie, to whom she gave birth when she was 20 years old.

Weslie is Holker’s daughter with her ex-fiance, and Boss adopted her when they married.

He gushed about his new daughter and said he could relate to the experience because he grew up with a stepfather.

“It was a huge moment for me, but I was ready going into it. I had a stepfather myself, so I could relate to the situation. I see myself as an extra source of unconditional love. I wanted to take the time to build and nurture my own personal relationship with her,” Boss told LA Parent in 2017.

“Every day before school, Weslie and I make a Starbucks stop. That’s our special time in the morning. We have our own handshake. We build LEGOs together and play video games together. There are certain things that just the two of us do together and that’s very special to me.”

Weslie has become quite the star herself, amassing 135,000 followers on Instagram since her parents set up her account in 2015.

Boss was best known for his stellar dancing career and his role as Ellen Degeneres’ sidekick and DJ on her talk show, The Ellen Degeneres Show.

He told LA Parent of his long-time yearning to become a father.

“My own father wasn’t very involved in my life, but I always had a burning desire to have a family,” Boss said.

“To be called ‘Dad’ is the greatest gift for me. My family is everything to me. I love coming home and having dinner together, playing games, reading books, sitting on the couch together, watching a movie.

“We’re starting to create our own family traditions. It’s a work in progress, but I continue to discover a whole new level of love for them. So far, so wonderful.”

Holker confirmed her husband’s death to People magazine on Wednesday, December 14.

She said: “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us. Stephen lit up every room he stepped into.

“He valued family, friends, and community above all else, and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”

Holker added: “To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory.

“We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children. Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner Officer confirmed to Newsweek that Boss died by suicide and was confirmed dead at 11.45 a.m. on Tuesday.
