Design experts recommend making icons simple, vibrant, and easy to read. Remember that your icon will be much smaller when it’s on your desktop, so try not to add too many tiny words or details. The one exception to the shortcut rule is the “This PC” app icon on the desktop. While you can create a shortcut of This PC and then edit its icon, the This PC icon on the desktop cannot be edited. If you don’t have a shortcut for a program, you can make one before proceeding.
