Keegan Casteel, 32, was arrested after a witness informed police that the man had a rifle inside a hotel room in the 600 block of N. Lake Shore Drive on Sunday evening, a spokesman for the Chicago Police Department told Newsweek. “The offender was taken into custody without incident. A rifle and an additional firearm were recovered from the scene,” the spokesman added. The Pedn Olva hotel in St. Ives said it will “fully close” after discussing the new infections with Public Health England (PHE). It is believed that 13 employees have tested positive, according to local outlets. On Thursday, Cornwall reported 60 new infections, nearly tripling the number of cases recorded the day before. The select committee on Friday sent a letter to 15 platforms and tech firms seeking a range of documents—including data, reports and analyses—dating back to the spring of 2020. The panel is also seeking any information on policy changes the companies made, or failed to make, in response to the spread of misinformation and violent extremism on their platforms. This will include decisions made to ban material from their sites, as well as any communication with law enforcement agencies and government entities....

Texas GOP Party Chair James Dickey said the legal team of the state’s Republican party would consider its legal options while reviewing the city’s authority to cancel its convention. “We are prepared to take all necessary steps to proceed in the peaceable exercise of our constitutionally protected rights,” Dickey said in a statement. An Advance Directive generally contains information about a person’s desire to be mechanically ventilated, artificially fed, and his desire for comfort care. However, an Advance Directive does little to protect a person from unwanted emergency medical care like CPR or transfer to a hospital. A person would need to have a separate Do Not Resuscitate Order (DNR) to protect them from unwanted chest compressions, electrical shocks, and artificial breathing....
